New Caledonia clash a rare international foray for Vanuatu

RNZI reports the national squad have played a couple of local friendly matches in recent weeks but haven't played an international since beating Fiji in November.

The local-based players have been training together since last month and the squad will be close to full strength, with Bill Nicholas arriving from New Caledonia and Solomon Islands-based trio Brian Kaltack, Kensi Tangis and Daniel Natou already in town.

Digicel celebrates Digicel Amicale Football team

The programme was filled with loads of entertainment and hundreds joined in to witness a road-show with the players, introduction of the full team on stage, live music, interviews with players, signed merchandise, photo opportunities with the players and heaps of games for children. A day full of emotions that brought the young and old to celebrate their new favourite football team, Digicel Amicale FC. 

Former Vanuatu football defender dies

The Vanuatu men's football team have dedicated their 2-1 victory over Fiji to former international defender Selwyn Sese, who died yesterday.

The Spirit 08 defender was a part of the Vanuatu team that took part in the last Oceania Nations Cup and previously played for local club champions Amicale FC between 2010 and 2012.

Both the Fiji and Vanuatu teams paid tribute to the 29 year old before kick-off yesterday at the Port Vila Municipal Stadium.
