Vanuatu’s national stadium transformed into medical and quarantine centre

The newly appointed Director General of the Ministry of Health, Russel Tamara says the EX FOL fitness centre in Port Vila and the Vanuatu Nursing School will also become quarantine centres.

Beds that were used during the 2017 South Pacific Mini Games have been sent to these new quarantine centres.

There are 74 positive cases in Port Vila and Vila Central Hospital has no capacity to accommodate them.

Tamata was former Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Health but was suspended last year over the allegations of misuse of covid funds.

NZ reggae band ‘Katchafire’ to perform in Vanuatu

The band will be performing at Korman Stadium in Port Vila.

The band arrived in Vanuatu on Sunday and visited Long Ifira Island Monday.

Band members were accorded a traditional welcome with an exchange of gifts.

Band member, Jordan Bell says they are currently enjoying their tour around Vanuatu.

“It’s very beautiful and I am very humble to be here. Looking forward to perform in Korman for the people of Vanuatu.”

Band members will also visit and present gifts to youths in Port Villa.

Vanuatu Sports Commission signs agreement with TVL

The agreement was signed between the chairman of Vanuatu National Sports Commission, who is also the Director General of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports (MoYDS), Henry Vira and the CEO of Telecom Vanuatu Limited, Balen Lutchmoodoo at the Korman Sports complex in Port Vila.

MoYDS stated that under the agreement, TVL will have the right to install telecommunications apparatus know as substation to boost mobile and Internet signal, coverage to surrounding areas and beyond as well as use the facility for conducting of such business activities.

Dwellers triumphant over Ba FC

It was a scoreless first half yesterday at Korman Stadium.

The goal for Dwellers came in the 63rd off the boot of Solomon Islands import Tutizama Tanito, who sent a pearler through Misiwani Nairube and into the nets.

Dwellers’ last pool match will be against the home side - Nalkutan FC. This match will be played this Friday and kicks off at 5pm.
