It is part of the Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction Project being installed by Vanuatu government agencies with help from Japan and funding from the World Bank.

Several New Zealand agencies are also involved including GNS Science.

MSG and PSAAG on UNPoA and Arms Trade Treaty

The workshop was held at the MSG Secretariat in Port Vila from 1 -2 September 2015.   

In his opening remarks, Heau conveyed the appreciation of the members of the MSG to the Pacific Small Arms Action Group PSAAG) through Laura Spano and her staff for the funding assistance and content provided towards this workshop which is an important security issue of the MSG as a leading organization in the region.      

96% street lights repaired

“The day goes unnoticed but when the sun goes down, and the night approaches, people walking at night fear for their safety. We are taking care of this by repairing 96% of all street lights in Port-vila,” says a UNELCO Spokesperson.

In total, public lighting throughout the Port Vila city, represents more than 700 lighting points.

Small gathering welcomes first ANG flight to Vanuatu

Most were Papua New Guineans married to Vanuatu and who now reside in Port Vila.

Helen Franklin and her husband Luke were some of those to welcome the flight.

They are Missionaries and have been serving in Port Vila for a while now.

Mrs Franklin could not hold back her tears in an interview with PNG Loop.

She said as soon as the plane touched down, she was so excited because it brought the presence of PNG closer to them.

She thanked Air Niugini for allowing such partnership between the people of Vanuata and PNG.
