Sergeant Palaud appointed Luganville Municipal Council’s new Chief Warden

The council appointed Palaud after having officers assigned to the position on acting basis.

Palaud is a police officer with knowledge in investigation and enforcing laws and has served under the force for 20 years.

He was nominated as the LMC’s Chief Warden following a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Mayor of LMC, Peter Patty, Commissioner of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, to improve compliance with the council.

Japan donates new bulldozer to Luganville Municipal Council

Japan’s Ambassador to Vanuatu, Chiba Hirohisa, confirmed the procurement of the machinery was released under Japan’s Economic and Social Development Programme.

Lord Mayor Peter Patty said the bulldozer will be used to generate revenue for the council from time to time during bush clearing and earth moving contracts.

“The council is also preparing to employ an operator to operate this machine with charges impose per hourly rate.”

Luganville Election set for 17 September

The 2019 LMC Election Logistical Arrangements have been finalized.

The starting date for the lodging of Candidature Application Forms and Proxy Application Forms is 1st of August 2019, and the deadline for 2019 LMC Registration update 5th of August.

The closing date for the lodging of Candidature Application Forms is 4:30pm on the 14th of August 2019.

The publication of names of candidates qualified to contest the LMC election will take place on the 30th of August.

Campaign will commence on the 30th of August and will close at 12 midnight 14th of September.
