Port Vila Darts Association to assist Tonga Darts Association

PVDA President, Stu McEwen said, “We are awaiting re-establishment of internet services so we can talk with Tonga on their needs.”

“The South Pacific Darts Championships that were meant to be held in Tonga later this year may be moved to another Country while Tonga rebuilds. Discussions are in progress.”

     

Port Vila Darts Association confirms semi-finals draws

NBV Avengers, BRED Team One Liveup, VIB AON and NBV Legends will be competing for top place in the A grade.

In grade A Reserve finishing in top four are Tupuji, Corona V, NF Jets #1 and design Impax.

Port Vila Darts Association executive Stu McEwen confirmed A Reserve playoffs will be held next week on Wednesday.

Tupuji meet Corona at Retreat Seaside while NF Jets meet Design Impax at Warhorse Saloon.

The top four in each grade have qualified for the semi-finals.

The semifinals will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

     

Venues for darts competition poses a challenge for Port Vila Darts Association

President, Stu McEwen said the association has grown over the last two years.          

“Finding another good indoor venue to host say 4-6 teams on a Tuesday/ Wednesday night will become an issue if we allow more teams to enter.”

“Venues need to be within the Municipality as most players are Nivans and have limited budget to get to and from games so out of town venues cannot be considered, explained McEwen.

McEwen added they have a budget that needs to be achieved in order to send players to the South Pacific Darts Championships.

Port Vila Darts Association to increase competitions

It’s part of efforts to improve the standard ‘of competition amongst dart players.

“We are also planning to hold at least 3 fun Competitions throughout the year – namely the Popular game called AFL and a drawn Double Competition,” said President of the Association, Stu McEwen.

According to McEwen,  the association has two seasons annually.

“Season 1 started in February each year with 14 home and away games and 3 weeks of finals. There is a small break in between season 1 and season 2 with season 2 commencing in July.”

Port Vila targets Pacific Games recognition for darts competition

Association’s President, Stu McEwen said their long-term goal is to involve the sport in the Pacific competition so that the national representative teams are playing international competition every two years.

“PVDA goal is to improve the quality of darts throughout Vanuatu. The various dart playing Nations throughout the South Pacific have formed a games committee. These games are now known as the South Pacific Darts Championship.”
